Yesterday was a good day. I managed to recognize the Sabbath.
It was the second week in a three-part series at our church about the Sabbath. I, like many, never really gave much thought to the Sabbath day prior to last week's sermon. It's really kind of interesting that most of us would just gloss over that commandment. Yes, it's one of the ten commandments in case you didn't know - number 5. You'd think in this day and time we'd be all over it..."Sorry, boss, can't do that...Sabbath." "Help you move? Wish I could, but...Sabbath." God commands a day off and we treat it as just a recommendation if we can fit it in. Why do we take so seriously not murdering, stealing, lying and committing adultery (other commandments), but pretend like taking a day off is optional? Probably because it's easy and nobody gets hurt. Or do they? Try setting aside even an hour once a week - it doesn't have to be Sunday - and just relax and give thanks for the blessings in your life. Gradually increase the time and see if you feel better afterward. See if your family feels better when you give them some undivided attention and you spend time together just enjoying what God gave you.

I agree with your post and with the difficulty of keeping the sabbath. I must admit I'm not so good at it. As a Catholic, maybe I should bring that up next time I go to confession. I wonder what the priest would say...hmmm
