Since 1919 when the 18th amendment was ratified it's been illegal to sell alcohol in the city of Joshua, Texas. Until tonight. For a year I've been working on this goal with a wonderful team of volunteers and tonight we celebrate the results of hard work. We celebrate a new beginning for our city. Not one of fear, but of opportunity. Not of immorality, but personal responsibility within the confines of the law. An unnecessary hold on the past will no longer hold Joshua back. The people that went to the polls in support of this went in support of the promise of a better future for our city. They voted "FOR" an improvement in our local quality of life when someday we can shop and dine locally more. We'll be able to stay in the city we love and call home more instead of driving to our neighbors to hand off our hard-earned tax dollars. We'll reap the benefits of outsiders funding more of our city services through their sales tax dollars instead of so much of the burden being on our local residents and their property taxes.
What a blessing to have a system in place for us to petition our government for a change and vote to make it happen. God Bless Joshua, TX
A.J.
