Debra Medina for Texas Governor!

In a remarkable turn of events yesterday the BELO Corporation (owner of local ABC affiliate WFAA-TV and the Dallas Morning News)has decided to include Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina in its January 29th debate alongside Governor Rick Perry and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. This marks the end of an extraordinary week for Mrs. Medina after a fantastic showing in last week's PBS broadcast debate and and jump in the polls. Rasmussen now shows Medina at 12% up from just 4% in November. She is the only one of the three gaining ground.

Once considered (and still by many) to have no chance of victory I believe Debra Medina could pull off a major upset victory in this race, but it's still going to take a lot of work by a lot of people to the get her message out. What's her message? Common sense, accountability, responsibility, both socially and fiscally. She understands and respects the constitutions of both the United States of America and the State of Texas. She has a quality about her that she is one of us, the majority, but under represented Texans. She is not a career politician and that's what I like most about her.

In the PBS debate I was almost embarrassed by the behavior and phoniness of Perry and Hutchison. They are so far out of touch it's not even funny anymore. They finish their canned responses and resume their smiles and think we can't see past it. It's tiring to watch them so hopefully the breath of fresh air that is Debra Medina will waft through the state leading up to the March 2nd primary.
