A few weeks ago the council met in special session to set forth and prioritize the goals for the city for 2010. It was nice to look back on 2009 and the previous plan and see the top priorities of the city had been accomplished. I credit that to the council having been unified on the top priorities and the city staff working diligently all year. Some of the top priorities from last year still carry over, but in continuing phases.
To select and prioritize the city goals the council was presented with a list of items mainly from previous years that need continued work and new items known to need attention. Each council member was able to suggest additional items. We ended up with 28 items that we then individually prioritized as TOP, HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW and submitted our lists to the city manager who tabulated the results. Below is the consensus for the TOP priorities for 2010:
