I'm not personally jumping into the 2012 fight today. That time will fast approach, but I'll instead focus my efforts more locally on the 82nd congressional session here in the Lone Star State. My push for changes to Emergency Services District legislation has a long way to go, but it's a challenge I'm looking forward to.
On the national scene I'm pleased with the insurgence of fresh candidates. Though I would have liked to seen a few more of the key races change hands such as Nevada and Delaware I'll gladly take what we got. We've seen the result of apathy so I hope a lot of people learned lessons and will be vigilant from now on. Those who hold conservative values cannot relent or we will be overtaken by those who seek to weaken this nation and blend us into the world. Common sense and personal accountability have to prevail to progress and provide.
On the TEA Party front I hope the values continue to permeate the Republican party and motivate previously silent thinkers to action. I also hope the movement does not morph into a third party. We do not need a TEA Party leader we just need concerned citizens with solid, traditional, conservative values to remain engaged and take back our country from the left.
For those of us here in Texas CD-17 what an amazing victory! After a long run our Democrat representative Chet Edwards is finally done. Though Chet and I disagree on most political points he is a good and decent man and he gave one of the most gracious concession speeches I think I've ever heard. I welcome Bill Flores to the office, but with a serious caveat - failure to uphold the principals advertised and demanded by the voters of this district will result in a short-lived political career. If we can't get term limits legislatively then we will fight to enact them at the ballot box. For now, Bill, get in there and make our voices heard!
God Bless America.
A.J.
