October 2010 Johnson County elected officials dinner

These dinners are always a good time.  It's a fun night for Erika and I to get out for a little while and mingle a little with friends from the city and around the county.  The city of Venus hosted this month's dinner and did a great job!  Red, Hot & Blue catered some great barbecue for us and Venus must have hired a professional door prize getter to have come up with all the great giveaways they had.  As usual there were enough prizes for nearly every couple to get at least one thing.  Erika and I came away with a $25 gift card to Red Lobster.  Not too shabby.

The charity for the evening was the Johnson County Child Advocacy Center and Sheriff Alford gave a presentation on the Chisholm Trail 100 Club, a fantastic organization benefiting families of first responders seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.  What I like about this organization is overhead is minimal so the maximum funding is available when needed, God forbid, and it's only for our local men and women who give so selflessly to serve us all.

I'm looking forward to meeting again in Keene in December.
