Monday's Burleson City Council meeting brought, yet again, another run at City Manager Curtis Hawk's job according to rumors and the agenda item. After last month's move to leave him alone I'm sure I wasn't the only one surprised to hear that it was up for discussion and possible public hearing again this month.
With more rumors of tea party string pulling of new council members I was going to have a hard time understanding how fiscally responsible it could possible be spun to fire someone who's contract would have him continue to be paid through what would have been the end of his time there anyway, next March.
In the end common sense prevailed and with an extreme shortage of evidence of any real issue Mr. Hawk will retire as planned from the City of Burleson in 2012. In the mean time the council will embark on what will surely be an arduous and expensive task to find his replacement.
Perhaps it was all just a brilliant charade to boost council meeting attendance. People don't want to be bothered with the day-to-day management of tax dollars, but they love a good controversy!
