Joshua Fire - July 2011

Without a care for the location  of a city limit sign the Joshua fire Department responded to a report of a fire this week on FM 917 just west of the city.  With the current dry conditions the fire quickly spread to a nearby vacant house which it ultimately consumed before scorching about 115 acres in total.
Under the command of Joshua Fire Chief, Wayne Baker, numerous neighboring fire departments along with the Forest Service worked brilliantly to get the blaze under control with minimal property damage and no injuries. The efforts of the volunteers in Johnson county never cease to amaze me.  These men and women are all about taking care of business.  Of course I'm partial to and especially proud of Joshua's own group.

This was a tough burn and everyone stepped up to the challenge.  Best of all, everyone went home safe.  Good job, everybody!
