Find God in the little things.

This is my office printer.  It's not what you might consider a typical display of the faithfulness of God, but what is "typical", really?  I got this printer two and a half years ago from a former client who was closing his office.  He offered up pretty much all his office electronics so I loaded up my Jeep floor to ceiling with stuff.  He had a few decent computers that I cleared his data off of and donated them to a local Christian school.  I gave away some phone stuff and threw out some things that turned out to be junk.  Right around that time though I found myself in need of a printer.  I had a fancy, inkjet, color photo unit previously and this one was a simple black and white laser printer, but I thought "It's free and I don't really need that fancy stuff" so out with the old and in with the old.

Now I don't know if my client had just put a new toner cartridge in the day before I came to pick up the stuff or not.  It seems like he would have mentioned that if he did, but in any case I've been using this printer as is since December 30, 2009.  "So you never print anything", you ask?  Well, I office from home and until going "paperless" about a month ago it handled all the needs of a small business in addition to whatever else my wife and kids felt like needed to be printed.

Now I'm not trying to compare my printer to a bleeding sculpture or the face of Jesus in a grilled cheese sandwich. I'm just saying that the little things in life that we sometimes take for granted like that green light that you said "thank you" for or a printer that just keeps on printing so I don't have to drop $89.49 on a toner cartridge is a tiny fraction of the faithfulness and love that the Creator of the universe has for each one of us.  Every so often when I get yet another page off my printer I just smile.
