Putting On My Regional Hat

I was excited and honored to be elected to the North Central Texas Council of Governments Executive Board this afternoon at the 2012 General Assembly meeting in Arlington, TX.  As the representative for cities under 25,000 population on the 13 member board I'm excited to speak for the City of Joshua, Johnson County and all small cities in the 16 county NCTCOG region.

With the construction of the new Chisholm Trail Parkway linking Johnson and Tarrant Counties I believe strong Johnson County representation is needed in our region to capitalize on the opportunities before us and make sure that our growth is recognized, well planned and sustainable.

The 2012-2013 Executive board is intentionally diverse with representatives from all over the region and it will be fun to get to know and work with these great public servants in tackling the issues and challenges of North Texas.  I look forward to carrying on the good work the COG has accomplished over the last 45 or so years and I'm grateful for Joshua City Manager, Paulette Hartman, Mayor Joe Hollarn and the rest of the Joshua City Council and staff in supporting me in this additional role.

A.J.
