Big Government: How do you like me now?

When the government was still fully functioning (in an oxymoron dysfunctional way) we used to get daily news reports (in the conservative world) about government overreach.  Now that the government is partially closed we're still getting those reports, but not from the parts that are still open. Everyday since the closure it seems like we've seen another example of the administration's best effort to demonstrate how painful life can be without our friend, Big Government.  Has there ever been a better marketing campaign for smaller government?  The Democrats are actually going beyond the scope of the federal government in closing open air parks and memorials and even private businesses on federal land to inflict pain to show us how much we need them.  Never have I seen a better demonstration of why we do not.  Are people really taking away from this the thought that they like a government so involved in their lives that if it doesn't continue as is then all is lost?  This very situation is what the conservative drum has been pounding out for so long.  Less government to begin with means less interruption to our lives if it's not there.
