I've written before about how I used to hate politics and now I'm a politician, although I hate that term, but that's another post for another time. I also used to hate how early campaigns seemed to start, but now that I have some firsthand knowledge of the work it takes I understand. I only had to deal with a town of 5700 with 3200 registered voters so a mayoral race in a large city or a district representative or senator would really be a big challenge. Although November 2010 is still a long time away many races are getting started already.
The point of this post is that it's never too early to be seeking out people in your community to support in leading us at one level or another. There's a lot of talk about who will rise up and lead the Republican party. Personally I don't think the party fully "gets it" yet. They're still tossing around the same old tired names when we need fresh blood. We need to be looking at dynamic mayors and state representatives, but not overlook just about anyone really moving in the party. Be vigilant, my friends. Get out into your communities and meet people who seem to be striving for more because we not only need strong leaders that will hold up our values in 2010, but in the years and decades to follow. We need to be building a pyramid that constantly being refreshed from the bottom up moving state and local leaders to the top. Strong leaders of tomorrow our out there right now. We just need to find them and encourage them.
Right here in Joshua we need several people to serve on our 4A and 4B economic development boards to help direct where that portion of tax money is spent for our city. If you or someone you know might be interested contact city hall for more information. We need some new faces and fresh ideas.
