In church on Sunday our pastor told a story of a man who collected violins. When the man died they found hundreds of instruments that were never played including a Stradivarius. In order to protect the instruments he had deprived the world of them.
The message on Sunday was to not make the same mistake as Christians. To keep our beliefs hidden from the world and not spread the Good News of a life with Jesus is to deprive others of experiencing that sweet sound.
I thought of how many of us make the same mistake in our political lives. Not talking, not getting involved and not voting is to also deprive our fellow Americans of our ideas, passions, compassion, compromises and all the other elements that make the diplomatic process work. When too many people fail to display how they feel then you get, well, just read the news.
I've mentioned before that I was one who didn't want to get into any political discussions with anyone. I had opinions, but found it frustrating to talk about because others always seemed to be trying to force on me their opinions. That happens for sure, but not to me anymore. I have a voice too and I want my country back. I want to hear your voice as well.
A.J.
