Meeting people part II

I set out again today to knock on doors and leave campaign cards. As with the previous days it was very satisfying mainly because people are generally nice and wish me luck even if they probably will not actually come out on election day.

I was pleased today to meet a former councilman who shared a bit about his own campaign some years ago and graciously allowed me to place a sign in his yard with his full endorsement.

After helping an older woman with a rather stuck garden hose she was ready to head to the polls today to mark the box next to my name.

I've had quite a few chats with people who are very excited about the message I'm bringing - of the return of representation and accessibility. Something our founding fathers probably expected to be self-evident for "representatives" to maintain as our country aged, but something that has unfortunately gotten lost over the years. People's eyes light up when they hear the mention of such a concept as if I told them I was for free gold for everyone. It's more precious than gold, my friends, it's a government by the people and for the people.

I happened to catch three women this morning doing something quite extraordinary. I see them walking down my street most mornings, but today they were carrying sticks and a bag. They were actually picking up trash as they walked. Brilliant. Only one of them lived within the city so she accepted a campaign card and they went on their way, but I'll remember the difference they were trying to make for a while. the next time you catch somebody doing something good let them know you appreciate it.
